ghoulies for the grandparents

i got the idea of a halloween handprint towel from Vickie Howell's "drooly ghoulie" bib post a week or so ago.  she made hers with a bib.  i took it a step further with kitchen towels from BBB.  i couldn't find the paint she used, so i got plaid's paint in glow in the dark green, and a black paint pen.  i got the ribbons and brads from Target's dollar bins (love those dollar bins!)

it's not a hard project.  the boy was easy.  babies, however, are hard to get painted handprints from (monkey ears tried to eat the paint).  it was easier to just dip their feet into the paint (spread out onto a clean styrofoam meat tray) and make footprint ghosts instead.  after the paint dried, i painted on black eyes and mouth, wrote their initial next to their print and 2009 on the edge of the towel.  since i don't sew, i used fabric glue to fasten the ribbon to the fabric, and stuck a brad next to each print.

i thought these towels would make great fall mementos for the grandparents.  little hand and foot prints are so precious.

how cool.  they glow even in the picture!

thanks, Vickie, for this creative project!
