sock monkeys!

i've spent the past couple of days organizing my new projects and knitting up a storm.  to wit:

he's got legs!  and he'll know how to use them!

sock monkeys!  i bought the yarn and got the free pattern from paton's at michael's. the yarn hung out for a month before i got bored with the tree skirt and prayer shawl, so i decided to start these.  they are for monkey ears and the pixie, as i feel that a child should have a sock monkey.  the boy has one too.  his was made from authentic socks.  i made it years ago.

being anal retentive, i packaged up my "knitting kits" so i know what yarns i need for each project.  for instance, here is the yarn for the boy's winter hat:

using vickie howell's feel good beanie pattern, the hat will be black with orange and green stripes.

i also made a sock monkey hat for the boy.  same yarn as the sock monkey doll, it took only a day to make.  actually would have been shorter, except i didn't follow the pattern right and had to frog it.  doubled the yarn, as the original pattern called for a chunkier yarn.

i'm going to make two more hats, for the babies.  this time i'll use a different decrease at the crown.  but cute nonetheless.  if you want to learn intarsia and duplicate stitch, this is the pattern for you!

this is the EZ baby surprise sweater kit.  love the yarn.  just need the time to knit it.

chenille baby toys.  the pattern calls for sirdar snowflake, but i'm going to substitute with red heart crap  red heart moon and stars.

this yarn is for hats for the pixie and monkey years.  and maybe a chunky brown one for me.

MIL's prayer shawl.

and the christmas tree skirt.

and a wonderful surprise in the mail!  the amazon fairy brought this book.  i honestly don't remember ordering it.  i must've ordered it during my pregnancy fog.  i was excited when i first read the book's release on VH's blog, was getting ready to order it, when it appeared.

how about a little lemon luv?  found this can of lemon pie filling in my pantry.  bought it originally to make lemon luv pies, my fervent hope to recreate the yummy lemon pies that arthur treacher's restaurants used to serve up.  bought phillo cups, crisped them up in the oven, spooned in the filling, put them in the oven to warm up, and hoped for the best.

not bad.  not the same as a fried lemon pie, but sated my jones nicely.

i'm amazed i got so much accomplished.  the babies' feeding schedule was wacky yesterday, each feeding an hour after the other.  it felt like i was feeding a baby every other hour.  monkey ears kept leaking his diaper (shitty ones, pardon the pun, from bRu) and he needed changed.  how i got the sock monkey hat finished, i'll never know.  and i quickly learned that no matter how much i want a fresh meal (filled pork chops, stuffing, sweet potatoes and green beans), that it's nearly impossible to make when it's the babies' feeding time.  hence, why crock pot cooking has been so popular at my house.  on top of that, aunt hemorrhage aunt flo decided to make her first visit since the babies' deliver, so i was dealing with killer cramps and headache.

in case you're wondering what bags i used to store my projects in...they're the bags that curtains and sheets come in.  nice sized with zippers, they are great for storing yarn for projects and depending on the size of what you're working on, the project itself.  keeps the yarn clean and dust free, contains bug infestation (if need be), these bags are wonderful.  i have tons of them since i hate throwing things away. i wish they were breathable (like sweater bags) but they work quite nicely.

brunch time for the babies.
