i have noticed how small my world has gotten, since having the twins. it's amazing what your border is when you're homebound with kids.
i ran a few errands this morning to the neighboring towns. i wanted to run to Beiter's in Danville becos they advertised snoopy dishes and patons yarn on sale. their flyer came out last thursday, and the sale ended today. i meant to run up there earlier in the week, but my schedule just didn't allow. and while i could take the kiddos with, i really didn't want to wrestle with them in a crowded store.
i hadn't been to beiters in years. i bet it's been at least 10. the last thing i remember buying was beads and doilies and making beaded glass covers. i forgot how cool that store is. it's really like a general store and sells a little bit of this and that and stuff that isn't around anymore. they actually had a section for scouting supplies and uniforms. i found phone rattles for the kiddos that i couldn't find anywhere else. they sell melissa and doug toys, penny dollar toys, craft supplies, cards, silk flowers, school supplies, gifts and frames. the store reminds me of the general store up in cooperstown. such a neat store. each town needs a store like this.
i found the snoopy dishes and as luck had it, i could get 3 different designs for each of the kids - a baseball theme, a party theme and a surf theme. the yarn section was small but pretty reasonable. they sold yarns i'd never seen before - and i found patons canadiana! i thought that stuff was urban myth! the yarns were picked over but i found a neat purple to use for the french press slippers. and i bought canadiana in a baby print to make more hats.
a visit to danville isn't complete without a visit to swishers yarn basket. i hadn't been there in months. she had some new neat yarns and naturally i couldn't leave without a sampling! like i need more yarn!
i ran to lewisburg to ellacinder's for beads to finish up some stitch markers. the store was pretty full - lots of ladies making necklaces and earrings. i found what i wanted. i also stopped by libby's and found interesting yarns, but nothing i could really use. she's getting new stuff in the upcoming month, so i'll see what new stuff she'll have.
it felt so good to just drive, especially the drive between danville and lewisburg. i wish i could spend the day just driving. it's not very practical with the price of gas the way it is, but a day of tootling around in the car is very gratifying.
i have 9 preemie caps completed. i have 3 more to knit. ravelympics has been a blast so far - i am enjoying seeing what projects others are knitting. already i've added more patterns to my favorite's queue. i'll never get it all knitted. but it's really inspirational.
while i should be knitting on another preemie cap, i'm a little itchy to just knit a hat for me. it's chunky boucle on 10.5 needles, so it'd be a fast knit.
today is such a beautiful day! the sun is shining, the snow is melting, and it feels warm out. it's the kind of day that makes me feel a little manic. and it's the perfect day that says that spring will be here before we know it.
