my standards must be lowering becos of the economy. i bought shite acrylic yarn at michael's.
i went to michael's to buy picture frames for the pictures i am giving as gifts for christmas. since the store was having a sale i wandered around the store. i got the martha stewart glitter set (see previous post for picture) i wanted - it was on sale too. i picked up some crafty goodies from the dollar bins for a birthday gift for one of the boy's classmates. i found some girly patches for the pixie and ribbons on clearance - i have no idear what i'll do with the ribbons, but they were pretty and i can use them to cheer up something. i visited my favorite part of the store - the yarn and knitting aisles.
i found this cute vanna's choice in mist - denim (for the boy), seaspray (for monkey ears) and purple (for the pixie). i found this loops and threads impeccable worsted in rouge (a coral-ly red) and navy. i'm thinking of making a moebius hood with these yarns, i think it would pop against my acid green fleece cape. i also splurged and got chunky needles and lion brand wool-ease thick and quick in blue for the boy. he wantes to learn, so i got the materials for him. i know he should pick the yarn, but i wanted something thick for him to learn on.
i think i've mentioned in previous posts that i always wind my yarn into cakes. i wound up these yarns into cakes too. they were horrible to wind. the inner and outer strands kept tangling and knotting up. i don't know if it was becos they are acrylic or just the way the skeins were wound.
i invented a new word for skeins of yarn that are bitches to wind - SKEINKS! a mix between skein and skank, it perfectly describes a skein of yarn that is tangling and knotting up when wound on the ball winder. i doubt it will catch on like kinnearing but it's a new word for me.
would you believe, i have to go back to michael's to get more picture frames! i need 2 triple 3X5 frames for the ggms. and since i have another coupon burning a hole in my pocket, i want to buy martha's nonpareil set as well.
