just finished cleaning up my grocery list and magazine subscription lists. i'm so anal like that. grocery list didn't need much, just added spaghettios and goya products on the list. i have my grocery list mapped out like the aisles of my grocery store. my magazine list is my list of subscriptions of which i mark off when i receive my issue every month. i started this last year when i noticed that i wasn't receiving magazines - either they got lost in the mail or (in the case of rescue) just dried up and folded AND DIDN'T TELL ANYONE THAT IT WAS DEFUNCT. i also use it to mark off subscrips that i'm letting run out and keeping track of ones that i only get 4 issues a year (like knit1). one mag, parents, my in laws get me for xmas. i will have a subscrip for that until ***2011*** since child mag folded and what was left of the subscription (apparently **2** years) was added to the parents subscription. can you say anal retentive freak?
i'm feeling overwhelmed becos july is half over and i really need to start about xmas presents. my family is easy - socks for the parental units and grandmother, purse for mom, maybe a vest for dad. my in-laws are another matter. i don't think they appreciated my knitted efforts last year (scarfs & hats, knitted pot holders and mitts) and i don't know what i can make them. i have patterns for xmas ornaments that are felted and i was going to make them more for gift tags than gifts themselves. i could do socks except i'll be cranking out about a dozen pair (including my parents) and to ask them their sizes seem to spoil the surprise (plus they say that socks should go to people who appreciate them, and from the comments i've garnered from them [bordering on "crazy sock lady"] i don't think they're a good idea). mgm will be pretty easy - i'm just using the yarn from her "won" basket to make a shawl and a scarf. but what can i make for my bil who turns his snoot up if it doesn't have a ralph lauren label on it? or sil who is more tomboyish? anyone have any ideas or thoughts? i'll need to go thru my stash for some ideas. maybe look at some books that have "one skein" projects.
yesterday i made an enchilada recipe that was in this month's issue of rachael ray. i can't stand the scourge of the earth, and when the mag script comes due in the fall i'm not renewing, but this was actually a pretty good recipe.
guess that's about it.
