i finished the dragonscale wristlets i made my MIL yesterday. they didn't take me long at all. I knit them with koigu blue swirly yarn and they are yummy and delicious to wear. hopefully i have enough yarn left to make myself a pair (or i can splurge and buy more at rosie's next week). i mentioned in the last post that i made my boy a hat for his scooby costume - HE LOVES IT. which makes me feel better.
i also started a new pair of socks, the KP moc croc pattern in a cool tealy tweed. on my new KPs harmony DPNs. the DPNs are just a bit longer than i'm used to (i got the shortest ones i could find) and the sock is looking good. i'm already a third of the way done with the ankle part and i started the sock just this evening. the pattern rocks - it's a quick knitting one.
last night was the first knitting group at my church. i started around 4:30 and people didn't start coming until around 6:30-7. i was feeling pretty discouraged becos i had different people telling me that they were enthused about the group and then one by one had excuses as to why they couldn't come (vacation, a group meeting, etc. etc. etc.). i started to doubt whether or not this would be a good ministry for me - a fiber arts/project based ministry. then when i walking to choir a lady stopped me and told me that she thought this knitting group i started was a great idea. so that gave me some motivation. we'll meet the first and third wednesdays of the month and i think i'll start the group at 6 instead of 4:30. i got a lot of good knitting it but (don't kill me for saying this) knitting for nearly 5 hours straight (not to mention the 4 hours i spent in the morning knitting the wristlet) is REALLY tiring. teaching knitting is tiring too. i suck at teaching. any kind of teaching. so hopefully the next meeting goes better.
philly is now a go, plus they are paying for our train tix. can't you tell that i'm REALLY looking forward to going away, even if for a day, even if it's only philly. boy am i sheltered.
tomorrow's the wiggles. as luck would have it, MY WHOLE FAMILY has sore throat and i thought the boy had croup - last night he woke up with this choky cough and rough voice. it was enough to keep him home from school today. however by this evening he perked up enough to play with his airplane and trains and line up animals for me to step on. leave it to us to get sick when i spent over a hundred dollars on non-refundable tix.
checking on a new toy recall (this time curious george bucket and top. i think they're okay but i don't know when they were made so i need to check on this). i'm afraid i'm becoming the toy recall gestapo. ugh.
