blogspot is being a complete dick to me and screwing with my posts and safari keeps closing out on me. i tried to do this post with the pictures but the format was wonky. so bear with the multiple posts. you get the same effect.
the new bedroom is finished! hubby worked really hard on it. the room feels like a hotel room now. i wonder how long i can keep it up.
look at the original floor. note how there's a rug shape - the original owners just finished around the rug instead of moving it and doing the whole floor. lazy sots! it just wasn't in the bedroom too...when we picked up the carpet in the dining room (becos we want to refinish the floors in there and the living room), someone did the same thing! so we have to sand over everything to get rid of the stupid rug shapes.
then there's the floor sanded. it's a good sturdy floor. one of the boards has a grain whorl that looks like a heart. i should take a pic of this sometime.
here's the floor with one coat of polyurethane on it. gorgeous color. like honey.
and the second coat. even better.
our finished room. bed made and everything.
i swapped out my clothes and put them in the bureau (in front of the bed.) i cleaned out my dresser so hubby can put his clothes in there. he keeps his stuff in the middle bedroom, but at some point when we have a baby, the boy will move to that room and will need the space for his stuff. i also bought a bunch of tubs so i could swap my clothes around seasonally. right now i have a pajama tub and a shirt tub. now i have 3 leftover tubs. that's okay. my closet gets cleaned out next - i can put stuff in there.
you can't tell from the pictures, but i used a TON of doilies for my knickknacks. i had 2 table scarves, but they need shook out and cleaned, so i just used doilies instead. i even have one for the PHONE. i'm sick. i know it.
we even got into the digital age and got a new TV. hubby's tv was 13 years old and a small black ugly square. he's the one who wanted the tv (yeah i did too twist my arm). it looks a lot better on the bureau than the old tv would have (minus the vcr too). we have to update our cable since that line is analog, and we can only get 70 channels. hopefully we can get all our extras minus a cable box. i'd really rather not have a big ugly silver box up there too.
instead of going out for valentines day or spending money on stuff that we really don't need (like candy, jewelry, etc) we decided to refinish the floor instead. happy valentines to me!
