8 inches after the big snip...i hope my hair makes a woman feel better about herself during what could be a very dark and scary time in her life...
i donated 8 inches of hair to pantene's "beautiful lengths" million inches campaign. the hair will be sent to "hairUwear" where it will join other pony tails to make a wig for a woman with cancer. i personally don't know any woman close to me living with cancer, but i know women from church who are battling breast cancer, and a family friend recently died after suffering from colon cancer for 10 years. i can't say that i'm dedicating my big snip to them, but i certainly tip my hat to them in the valiant fight for their lives.
people often complimented me on my hair. it's baby fine, but i have tons of it. it billowed in volume when i was pregnant with the boy, and i remember when i had my hair styled in the hospital after he was born, how the old ladies in the hospital salon fussed over my long beautiful reddish brown hair. i've had shorter hair before so it's not such a big deal.
i feel good giving a part of me to someone is going through quite possibly the fight for her life. getting seriously ill while raising a small child is my biggest fear, and i'm sure there is a woman out there who is doing that just now. this pony tail is for her. may she be blessed with strength and love.
