we ran errands up north this weekend.
hubby got a pass for sam's club at his work. at a cheaper rate, we could join. we'd toyed with joining for a while - more kiddos, more food and stuff - and this pushed us in that direction. i thought there'd be more variety but wysiwyg. cheddar goldfish, not plain or pretzel, no organic peanut butter, and only 3 choices in baby formula. but we got a lot of snacky stuff for the boy - he packs lunch a lot - and diapers and formula. as the kids get older and eat more we'll have a better mind as to what to stock up on.
ate at olive garden. visited a new (to me) organic food store called freshlife. here are the goodies i picked up there:
kamut, red and regular quinoa, green bean chips! i love bulk foods.
also visited a new yarn store - new to me, since it's been in existence for over a year. planned on getting just one skein of yarn.
i'm such a liar. those blue puffs are marshmallow puffs yarn (like my poppin yarn) - the skeins were horribly tangled up, so my only solution to keep them from getting worse was wrapping them around soda bottles. now i know what to use with the sirdar domino yarn. ugh. damn yarn addiction.
anyways, glendas knit knook is a wonderful store. many high end yarns, and a closet full of sock yarn. i had to restrain myself from flinging myself at that socky goodness. i got a lot of yarn to knit the kiddos things - soft crystal palace chenille for floppy baby hats, a self striping sock yarn for baby sweaters (which i hope will be enough for toddler sweaters). like i have time to knit. but just so so lovely. i plan to visit there as much as i can.
it was a nice outing. we were tired, but the kids were good (well, the babies were. the boy was a bit of a fussbudget).
on a sad note, peachey's, a bulk grocery/meat/craft store/restaurant burnt to the ground late last week. according to their FB page they plan on rebuilding. i am so excited to hear this - i love buying bulk goods there, the prices are so reasonable. i love their beef sticks and canadian bacon, their farmer's and garlic cheeses. best of all i love their pot pie (ham, beef or chicken doesn't matter). and their whoopie pies are the absolute best. when i was pregnant last year, they were only thing i really craved. and when mom and dad went out there to visit parishoners in a nursing home, they often went there for lunch - and brought me my whoopie pies and blue pop corn.
