as part of the registration at KDO, attendees must also make a hat, which is given to caps for kids. i thought i better knit my hat now, becos time is quickly flying by and i didn't want to be scrambling last minute to make one.
normally i make a regular ribbed hat, but this year i got fancy and knit a sock monkey hat.
i knit it on size 7 needles (that was the largest size i had for for a 16" circular), in the large size. it is still a small hat (thank you gauge) despite it having more stitches. i think when i made the hats for the kids, i either used 2 strands when knitting, or used the larger needle and the hat was looser.
i like this hat, and it is most definitely fair worthy. i think i'm going to enter it in the norry county fair, and then enter it in the cap contest at KDO. the winner gets a gift cert to the yarn market, and i could definitely use that!
