as predicted, it was bitter cold at christkindl market. i wished i had lined jeans and a heavier shirt on under my coat. i also wished i had my fauxbius scarf so i could wear it like a hood.
as usual, market didn't disappoint. there is an authentic german food stand where hubby got a platter with wurst, schnitzel, corned beef, and german potato salad. i got a pork schnitzel sandwich. i was so hungry (cos i didn't eat all day) that i scarfed it before it was even paid for. hubby's platter was really good too. i also got perogies. haluski. cherry struedel (i brought that home). pretzel nuggets. and my personal favorite, beef goulash, made by a church in mifflinburg. it is sooooooooooooo good. chunks of beef in a tomato sauce, poured over a ball of stuffing. the stuffing is what makes the meal. i don't know how they make it. i tried making it myself but it's not the same. i got some to take home, cos mom and dad wanted some too. also bought kettle corn.
i bought homemade soaps from two mules soap, one has anise and coffee and smells so good. i bought the boy candy from the german shop. and i bought these fibery goodies:
steam valley fiber hand dyed fingering sock yarn in rainbow. heaven.
steam valley fiber hand dyed mohair in seashore. scrumptious.
shades-of-nature natural dyed wool yarn, dyed with fustic and indigo. soo good.
and various pieces of roving for the mittens i hope to thrum someday.
i was rather conservative with the yarn buying, don'tcha think? i could have kept looking, but there were other people crowding around the yarn (there was a small display of it, not nearly as much as last year) and i couldn't peruse it like i normally do. i love the the purveyors of these yarns. i love buying locally.
