the new cornflake wreath mom

when i was a little girl the coolest mom in school was the one who made the cornflake marshmallow wreath (or tree) for the xmas treat for the class xmas party (the mom who made the finger jello ranks up there too). basically it's rice crispy treats made with cornflakes instead. the boy has the treat in school tomorrow and at first he wanted to make cookies (slice and bakes, i hate baking) but when he tried my first batch of cornflake wreath he wanted that instead. so i made a batch today, cut out little holly pieces, (16, complete with teaberry sprinkles for holly berries) and made a bow with cherry fruit leather. how very martha of me.

i finished the candle holders. the ball of yarn i bought made 4 covers for the square holders, and one small one for a round votive holder. i gave one to mom, the other ones i'll give to MIL, SIL and the boy's librarian. she thought they were cool looking when i was knitting them at library last week. the small votive i am sending to grandma, along with her hat, the boy's calendar, pictures and card.

speaking of calendar, i made the boy's calendar with iPhoto and mac sent me my calendars. they are GORGEOUS. they have captions and really great pics of the boy. next year i'll take advantage of the multiple picture option for the pages as i had lots of pictures to use, but only wanted one picture per month. and the calendar came 2 days after i made it! do you know how liberating it was to have one xmas chore checked off?

started dad's sock about halfway through the leg. it's a fast knit for me. should have it finished by the end of the week. and i can breath a sigh of relief becos all my xmas pressies are DONE.
