preventable tragedies

i just read online that there was another deadly fire in a neighboring county. i've lost count of how many fires in the past couple of months have ended with someone dying. i'm not sure if there were smoke detectors in the homes but if there wasn't that's a shame. smoke detectors aren't that expensive, and having at least one in the home should help save a life. we have a detector on each floor of our home. of course, the one in the kitchen goes off every time we use the oven or i fry something, so if we did have a fire, our detector prolly WON'T go off.

visited our new surplus store for the second time. the cart was full and the bill was only $42. i have less than a cart like that when i go to my regular store and it's usually TWICE that much. i got TP, the smushed in tissue boxes, 10 juice boxes for a dollar (but also organic juice boxes for 99 cents), plus other odds and ends. really can't beat those prices. just be mindful of the condition of what you're buying. i didn't look close enough at one of the juice boxes and it expired in december. oh well.

speaking of reading labels - i tried to felt my hearts that i made. thought the wool i used was feltable. reread the label and saw that it's MACHINE WASHABLE. so my hearts didn't felt. they did become fuzzier tho, which i liked, and now i can stitch around the edges with some white fun fur yarn which will make them even cuter.
