i'm downloading more pics from philly.
hubby took at least 300 pics, the majority of them being shots of buildings and architecture. a lot of the buildings have gothic details and cool roofs or windows. some of the buildings are run down now but i bet they were gorgeous in their heyday.
we didn't take the subway much on this trip. the night before we left we saw reports that there were assaults at several underground platforms, including the one we get off at for our hotel. that one actually resulted in a beating death. since i knew we'd stick out like sore thumbs we thought it best to try to hoof it to most of the places we wanted to see. we did take the subway to get to the hotel, and on the morning we went to independence mall. hubby took it to get down to the gallery and then walked back. we planned on taking the subway back to the train station but we had so much crap and bags that we took a cab instead. this is the reason we don't go down to south philly. there's always next time.
we always stay at the holiday inn express midtown. i stayed there many years ago for a psychology conference in college so it holds extra meaning for me. it's a great location, close to the shopping and historical districts and is just a good place to stay.
