today i went grocery shopping and to farmer's market for my goodies. oy vay the prices of stuff nowadays! i got organic chicken breasts for almost **$8**. i could swear 2 weeks ago they were 3 bucks cheaper. bread is ridiculous now. i prefer whole grain/no HFCS but since that's going for about **$5** a loaf i cheaped out and got the store brand whole wheat. i don't eat it. the boy eats almost a whole loaf A WEEK. i broke down and got organic milk and eggs. the boy drinks milk like it's out of style. i eat hard boiled eggs for breakfast and i figured i might as well get some omega 3's while i'm at it. the boy wanted a cake for father's day, and the bakery ones are so expensive. so he found a peanut/gluten free cookie mix in the organics aisle that cost $5. i probably could have made about six dozen cookies from scratch for that price, but i got it anyway. a year ago my grocery bill would have been $75 a week on average. today it was $120. and don't even go there with the price of gas. that just sucks.
i wonder when it's going to end? when will prices stop exploding? gas is already four bucks a gallon. i remember filling half a tank for under ten bucks when i first got my car 12 years ago. now it costs almost **fifty** bucks to fill half a tank. and i have a BERETTA!! it's NOT a big car!
and then there's the problem with moths. i've found a few moths in the house over the past couple of weeks. i think my main stash is okay since the yarn is stored in sweater bags in the cedar hamper. i had some loose sock yarn so i rewound all of it and bagged it in ziplocs. i also rewound yarn in my old tin picnic basket - most was bagged but i did it anyway and rebagged it. hubby said one moth came in with him when he did garbage. hubby has also been pulling up our old carpet and tearing it out, so i don't know what lives in the carpet (it's ancient). i don't know where the rest came from. i'm super careful about putting new stash in quarentine, but i did get a little lazy with my sock yarn. hopefully this ends it.
i guess that's about it. this is a boring post. but i need to gripe about something!
