due to some luck with the weather, we were able to go to the farm show after all. i really wanted to go this year. it's become a tradition for me and a way to show the boy our family's farming heritage.
i took enough money to yarn crawl around and found my favorite spot. i love kraemer yarns - they are the best. then when we were in the main vendor area, i forgot about the small row of local yarn vendors from halifax and around. it was probably for the best - i wasn't too keen on their selection, and it was really expensive. i mean, i would pay for good quality local yarn, but i didn't take my credit card and i tapped myself out on buying food stuff and the other yarn. i'll remember to plan accordingly for next year!
i bought a lot of foodstuffs this year that i hadn't other years. jars of jelly and pumpkin and peanut butter spreads. cheese. beef sticks. more honey candles and lip balms (i usually buy them anyway). SPICE MAN!! i went with my wish list of spices and as always he didn't disappoint.
for a lousy economy, the place was packed. i saw a line snaked around a corner for a sliver of a cheese omelet. there were a lot of things there.
i checked out the knitting exhibits. i thought about sending something for exhibition but didn't cos i thought that the entries were the "best of shows" from last year's state fairs. i was wrong. there were hardly any afghans, and what socks i saw didn't place. what did place? a pair of flipflops with fun fur. a shawl. for a state farm show i thought it would be inundated with crafts. now there were a lot of sewing projects - a lot of prom gowns and such, i'm assuming by 4H'ers. really nice stuff. i'm going to look up and see if they have a premiums catalog and maybe i'll enter that next year. cos as i looked at the stuff i couldn't help but think, "i'm better than that." don't mean to brag, but for pity sake, i'm better than a pair of knitted flip flops.
ate at macaroni grill. got some new tops at coldwater creek. yay me...i could wear a smaller size! last year i couldn't wear their largest size! i realize that's going to change soon, but for one brief moment, i could be happy that i was a smaller size!
