after nearly 2 years, faux noro striped scarf is completed!
knit with plymouth yarn's boku instead of noro, the pattern is a K1P1 rib, slipping the first stitch on each row, and alternating yarns every 2 rows. the yarn not used is carried along the side. i knit one of these scarves 2 years ago, and knit this one with intentionally color coordinating yarn.
a really bad iphone pic of me wearing mock noro scarf. it's rather short - about less than 5 feet - but it will be nice to wear under a coat, close to my neck. scratchy as hell, but that's noro/boku for you. i toyed with felting the scarf, but it would make it a bit shorter. maybe i'll make another scarf (i found another kit!) and felt that one.
a great mindless project. also yet another WIP knocked off my list.

Julie,
ReplyDeleteI"ve knit two of these in the Noro version. They are scratchy, but a good soak in a wool wash or hair conditioner helps sometimes.
I have lots of yarn to knit another one. Want to get together sometime soon to knit?
Take it easy!
Kristin
i hear that libby's making arrangements to have knit group at bNn - lately they have been meeting at other knitters' homes.
ReplyDeletewhen you have a free night, we can get together at starbucks?
i forgot about the wool wash/conditioner trick for scratchy yarn. i never wash my woollies - too afraid of shrinkage, no space to dry them out!
cheers!
