no worries

a while back i kvetched about feeling left behind while others live life high off the hog.  guess what our lesson was in church last week:

...Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? (Matthew 6:25)

what is the irony of that? thanks, big Guy, for reminding me!

my family wants for nothing.  believe me, we don't.  but during the lean times, God does provide when we least expect it.  to wit:

i can't count the number of times hubby got (under the table) work fixing friends' computers.  not a huge sum, but enough for dinner and a movie (becos with twins and a big kid, nothing is more important that a date night), or more recently, to cover a copay for a doctor appointment.

we give.  we tithe, we donate canned goods at church for different things, when i clean out our closets, our castoffs go to our church rummage sale, to raise money for our picnic grove and playground.  i donate to knitters without borders.

the gifts we receive reach far beyond a dinner at red robin and watching a movie.  the gifts we receive are more precious that anyone can imagine - our loved ones, our health, the things we need to live - shelter and physical nourishment.  everything else, is just gravy.

do i give out of fear?  i suppose i do.  it's dumb, illogical thinking, that bad stuff will happen when i stop believing.  i guess that's why they call it faith.

i will remember this scripture when i'm feeling down.  i have what i need, and i am blessed, becos God provides.  no worries!
