last week on our PSU outing, we were walking next to mcclanahan's when i spied a ten dollar bill on the ground. i told the boy to pick it up and exclaimed what wonderful fortune it was to find it. since it was found next to a store, we assumed that someone dropped their change. lucky for us, sucky for them.
that evening i reminded the boy of the money and said he could use it for whatever he wanted. buy a book, a lego set, whatever. he said, "well, maybe i should take it to church and put it in the collection plate."
you could have knocked me over with a feather. when i relayed the conversation to hubby, he was equally gobsmacked.
i'm always second guessing myself as a parent, wondering if i do enough for my children. i often wonder how much the boy takes away from church and our faith. apparently hubby and i must have done something right, for the boy to suggest giving the money to church. it was definitely one of the proudest moments of my life.
