3KCBWDAY4 - a knitter for all seasons

As spring is in the air in the northern hemisphere and those in the southern hemisphere start setting their sights for the arrival of winter, a lot of crocheters and knitters find that their crafting changes along with their wardrobe. Have a look through your finished projects and explain the seasonality of your craft to your readers. Do you make warm woollens the whole year through in preparation for the colder months, or do you live somewhere that never feels the chill and so invest your time in beautiful homewares and delicate lace items. How does your local seasonal weather affect your craft?

i live in a mildly temperate climate - hot and humid summers and cold snowy winters.  i suppose they have influence with my knitting.

during the hot months, you can find me knitting socks and dishcloths.  i like to knit small things becos sweaters and afghans feel warm and heavy on my lap.  socks in fingering weight and dishcloths made of cotton feel cool and lightweight in my hands.

i knit mittens, hats and sweaters during the colder months.  hats and mittens are small, but i like to try them on as a i knit them.  mittens feel so warm and scratchy if i knit them out of season (EZ would beg to differ, but that's my feelings on the matter).

shawls seem to be an all year round project for me.  i knit fingering weight ones during warm weather and heavier ones during colder months.

  1. You make knitting by season a perfectly reasonable thing to do! I'm with you on the shawls--definitely a year-round project.
