i attended my first maryland sheep and wool festival last weekend. my friend K, whom i traveled with, assured that i would have a good time and to expect to be overwhelmed. she wasn't kidding! i arrived with a wish shopping list, but knowing me, pretty much picked whatever tickled my fancy. i'm proud to say that i mostly used cash (we had money left over from our canada trip plus we had some stashed away) and only cracked a credit card once (and that was at an actual yarn shop).
here are the spoils of my trip. if you want more details on yarn, feel free to visit my ravelry stash page.
we "tailgated" friday night at all about yarn and these are the goodies i got there:

we "tailgated" friday night at all about yarn and these are the goodies i got there:
fiber goodness from miss babs
the crowd was insane at the verdant gryphon
these lovelies came from clover hill yarns.
fiber (!) and yarn from into the whirled, a new vendor to the festival
some tosh vintage from one of my favorite vendors from KDO, uncommon threads.
more fiber (!!) called trade from creatively dyed. by the time i visited this stand it was midday, i was dehydrated and hungry and nearly passed out from the heat. i barely staggered to a nearby grass patch where i sat down and chugged water. it's time to go to the car for lunch when your ears start ringing.
the next day we returned with much cooler weather and fewer crowds. i bought this buttery soft yarn from bijou basin ranch (and used a coupon to get a few bucks off!)
sock kit from stock tsarina - my challenge for fair knitting!
cherry tree hill had an awesome deal - nearly 900 yards for 12 bucks. can't shake a stick at that!
ravelry red mal from the mannings (to keep my lone skein of ravelry red company)
saturday night at the hotel we ladies received these this skein gratis from a sweet kind gentleman. it was the owner of davidson yarns - he observed us knitting away in the lobby, did a head count, and returned with a bag of yarn.
i also purchased some non-fiber items. i got a festival t-shirt and bag plus these goodies:
highlighter tape and buttons from all about yarn (friday night binge)
the heart spindle is from the spanish peacock; the louet spindle is from the mannings (yarn on louet is not mine!)
beautiful yarn bowl from sue henshaw pottery
buttons from melissa jean buttons
honey, candy and candles from the bee folks
lip balm and hand cream from the bee folks (of the killer bee honey fame) and hand cream from breezy willow farm
beautiful dish from the merlin tree
it's lucky i didn't come home with one of these - it's the reason i visited the booth in the first place:
buttons from various vendors
gratis stitch markers from miss babs
mini crochet hook for fixing dropped stitches
there was so much to see and do at MDSW. i barely scratched the surface! i can't wait to go back next year!
