what a difference a week makes

my last blog was last sunday morning.

by sunday night i became the mother of twins, a boy and a girl. in the span of 2 minutes, our family of 3 became a family of 5.

they were born at 34 weeks 5 days, just shy of 35 weeks. instead of delivering them at my hospital, i was transfered by ambulance to geisinger, where 2 hours later william frederich and laura faith were delivered by c-section and placed in the NICU to monitor their glucose levels.

laura and i came home from the hospital today - me with residual HBP, her with a bit of jaundice. freddie is still in the hospital being monitored for the last step before he comes home - maintaining his body temps - and will hopefully be home on sunday morning.

i am in awe of the two tiny lives that my husband and i created. i can't stop looking at their tiny faces, looking for traces of myself and my husband in them. freddie has my nose and my mom says he looks just like i did when i was born. laura has hubby's nose and my chin. and both have hair on the backs of their ears, just as the boy did when he was born.

i am also amazed that after a year of mourning my beloved annelise, God has graced us with these two precious souls. they are absolute blessings to my family.
