personal WIP, part 2

i meant to write this post a couple days ago, except blogger blew up and wouldn't allow me to either add or edit posts.  in the meantime, some of the details of my dream have melted away, but at least i remembered the major points...enjoy!

the other night i had a very interesting dream.  i think i've mentioned before that i'm a very lucid dreamer.  this one freaked me out a bit, so i did a little bit of browsing a dream dictionary to see what my dream was saying to me (those bits are in red)...

i dreamt that i was in my childhood home (me).  my parents told me we were moving and i had to get my things packed.  i remember telling my folks that if i bought enough cases of diapers, i'd have boxes to pack my things. (To see a diaper in your dream, symbolizes your childish or babyish attitudes/actions. You may be too dependent on others)  then i was on the front porch (To dream of a porch, represents your personality, your social self, your facade and how you portray yourself to others...To dream of an opened porch, signifies your outgoing nature and welcoming attitude), wrapping up the necklaces that are in my jewelry case.  (To see a necklace in your dream, represents unsatisfied desires. It also highlights your intellect and  your desire to have more influence and power over others.)

then i dreamt that i was back in high school (To dream that you are in school, signifies feelings of inadequacy and childhood insecurities that have never been resolved. It may relate to anxieties about your performance and abilities...Alternatively, a dream that takes place in school may be a metaphor for the lessons that you are learning from your waking life. You may be going through a "spiritual learning" experience.).  my first class was a math class, and but i didn't know where my room was or who was teaching it (To dream that you are looking for a classroom, suggests that you need to expand your knowledge and learning).  as i walked the halls, i tried to remember where past math classes were and who taught them.  as the crowd of students motored through the halls, i found kids who were in my class and followed them, figuring if they were in my class too.

the math class was in the old art room (mr. p wasn't teaching it tho).  the desks were half filled with students and i tried to find one that didn't have stuff piled on it (To dream that your desk is cluttered, indicates that you need to prioritize and reorganize aspects of your life).  i saw classmates that i hadn't seen since i graduated (To see old classmates in your dream, indicate that you need to draw on your old associations with your former classmates to gain insight in some current relationship. It represents a past lesson that you have learned and is applicable in some aspect of your waking life now.).  my teacher was a lady from my church, and she told us to hand in our homework.  i dug through a binder and couldn't find it, and she grumped me about not having it.  she then told us we were going to watch a video - i think it was about percentages (sales tax, money off purchases) but it felt very discombobbled. (To dream about mathematics, indicate that you are evaluating a situation in your waking life where  you need to be more rational in your thinking. Try not to act on your emotions.To dream that you are unable to solve a mathematical problem or equation, parallels a waking problem where you may be confused about. The dream may offer a hint toward a new approach to this waking problem. Something does not add up in your life.)

we were then told to split into groups to work on homework and a boy offered to help me.  i tried to find a pencil but they all had broken points. (To see a pencil in your dream, indicates that you are making a temporary impact in a situation. It may also suggest that a relationship will not last long.)  at that point my desk fell apart, and i put it back together (the legs were jointed, sort of like a hip).  then i noticed that the red dress/outfit i was wearing was not only missing the top (i was wearing a bra) but now the bra was missing too! (Becoming mortified at the realization that you are naked in public, reflects your vulnerability or feelings of shamefulness. You may be hiding something and are afraid that others can see right through you. Metaphorically, clothes are a means of concealment. Depending on the type of clothes you wear, you can hide your identity or be someone else. But without them, everything is hanging out for all to see. You are exposed and left without any defenses. Thus your naked dream may be telling you that you are trying to be something that you really are not. Or you are fearful of being ridiculed and disgraced. Such anxieties are elevated especially in situations where you are trying to impress others. Often times, when you realize that you are naked in your dream, no one else seems to notice. Everyone else in the dream is going about their business without giving a second look at your nakedness. If this happens in your dream, then it implies that your fears are unfounded; no one will notice except you. You may be magnifying the situation and making an issue of nothing.)

i also dreamt that i was back in university chorale, but it was taught by my high school band director (To see your teacher (past or present) in your dream, suggests that you are seeking some advice, guidance, or knowledge. You are heading into a new path in life and are ready to learn by example or from a past experience. Consider your own personal experiences with that particular teacher. What subject was taught? Alternatively, a teacher relates to issues with authority and seeking approval. You may be going through a situation in your waking life where you feel that you are being treated like a student or in which you feel you are being put to a test.).  at least he didn't ream me out for having my music out of order (which it was). (If you are singing out of tune, then it suggests that you are not fitting into some group situation)

okay, now if you've gotten through all that black and red print, this is what i'm getting:

the past three weeks have been especially weird for me.  the stuff that happened gave me pause as to what direction i need to go in order for me to be happy.  there are things in my life that aren't very beneficial to me, and if anything they are bringing me down.  i think it's time to make some changes...

  1. I thought of this song when I read your post. Maybe you've heard it before; it's by Steven Curtis Chapman. Those young years are hard. I don't know if I'd survive them again! Thoughts are with you...

  2. That is a strange dream... o__o; My dreams aren't anywhere near that odd - they usually have one main point/symbol in them that you can pick out.

    Anyway, it's always hard to take out the things in your life that bring you down, but once you do it, you're free! And it's amazing! So, go for it! :)

  3. @Alyssa- it's weird what our subconscious tells us - my dreams usually aren't this detailed or weird either but holy cats did it get my attention! Thanks for the encouragement! :)

    @Denise - I don't believe I know the song - thanks for sharing!
