Your sock is beautiful. I love the stripes. Have you tried an afterthought heel? They are perfect for striped socks. It might be just what you are looking for. The knitgirllls have a video tutorial. Good luck!
I have a good short row heel, but not W &T, I'll try to remember to bring the pattern to our next knit night. It's simple....if I can do it, you certainly can!
okay, this is purl #2 as blogger gave me a dumb error with the first one...
i used a SRH tutorial from http://kaityvr.wordpress.com/2007/05/28/the-easiest-way-to-do-a-short-row-heel/ and i just didn't get it...and i over decreased and wound up with 20 stitches instead of 30. *headdesk*
then i used the short row heel from socks ala carte and - it has no w&t and asks you to purl through the back. since i haz teh dumbz i purled regular and that made the holes.
i read about afterthought heels in the harlot's blog and they've intrigued me ever since - my next pair of socks, i think i'm going to try that!
@ kristen - please bring your SRH pattern. i loathe w&t the most! :)
